Charles E. "Chuck" Taylor

Sr. Project Manager

Chuck grew up in San Pedro and attended schools in the Harbor Area as well as Los Angeles. While in college he took advantage of a job offer from the newspaper he delivered as a youngster, the “News Pilot”. During the next thirty-six years he worked at three different Copley Newspapers in the Los Angeles area, starting in the Circulation Department and in the Advertising Department.

Upon retiring from the newspaper business, Chuck went to work for Assembly Member Betty Karnette as a field representative in the San Pedro and Long Beach areas. His specialties were Union Organizations and the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

During this time he was a member of the City of Lomita City Council, having been elected in 1990. In 1994, both Chuck and the Assembly Member lost their reelection bids. Chuck worked as a Job Developer for Harbor Employment Association while he assisted in the Betty Karnette State Senate campaign. Also at this time he was a consultant for The Katherman Company on Special Projects in the San Pedro and Torrance areas.

When Mrs. Karnette was elected, Chuck went back to work for her in the State Senate out of her Long Beach office. His areas of responsibility included the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, labor unions, as well as San Pedro, Bellflower and Lakewood. This position continued eight years until his retirement from the State of California.

He is currently working as the Executive Director for the Lomita Chamber of Commerce where he and his wife share the duties of managing the chamber’s affairs. Chuck and Dottie live in Lomita with their daughter Kathleen and granddaughter Kadie. A son Tom and his wife live in Long Beach with their two children and a daughter Paula, lives in Washington D.C.
